San Antonio, Texas
Lil' Red's was founded in 2016 by Michael ("Mike") McAndrew, a Southerner from the panhandle of Florida who finds it astonishing that boiled peanut stands don't line the roadsides in South Texas like they do in the Southeast. Michael is married to Lacy (the original "Lil' Red"), and together they are parents to Archer (the new "Lil' Red"), born in 2015 and Silas (a.k.a. "Bubba"), born in 2017. This little ginger family has made San Antonio home and wants to share their love for The Caviar of the South.
Lil' Red's Boiled Peanuts brings to San Antonio a tasty Southern delicacy that is sure to keep you coming back for more. Boiled peanuts are not only delicious; they're also great for your health! The process of boiling peanuts draws antioxidants from the shells. Boiled peanuts have four times the antioxidants of raw or roasted peanuts. They're also high in protein and a perfect vegetarian snack.
Lil' Red's offers free samples and tutorials on how to best enjoy these tasty treats. Find us at local farmers markets and various bars, restaurants, and shops around town.
MEET THE TEAM
MIKE, LACY, ARCHER, AND SILAS MCANDREW
The Ginger Mafia
Mike, a.k.a. "Head Peanut," founded Lil' Red's in 2016, alongside his wife, Lacy (the original "Lil' Red"). Archer, born in 2015, is the new "Lil" Red," and Silas, born in 2017, is known as "Bubba." When both their boys were born with bright red hair, they knew they'd chosen the right name for their family business. Thankfully, no one is allergic to peanuts! Lacy, a lawyer and local musician, helps Mike with social media marketing while the two wrangle their wild, redheaded toddlers.
Quality Assurance Manager
Our cousin, Jack, joined the Lil' Red's team in August 2018. He is truly a Jack of all trades! He cooks top quality boiled peanuts and Dippin' Spreads, packages them for wholesale and retail, and mans the boiled peanut cart on base and at special events. He is invaluable to our family-run business!
Chief Operating Officer
Mike's father-in-law, Tony, has been vital to the success of Lil' Red's. He and Mike literally built Lil' Red's commercial kitchen from the ground up, while Tony, a licensed electrician, supervised and provided much needed advice on construction and other important business matters. Tony also built and maintained the website for several years, ran booths at farmers markets and special events, and provided countless hours of childcare. We couldn't have done it without him!
CHERYL MAE BRINSON
Director of First Impressions
Mike's mother-in-law, Cheryl Mae, keeps our team organized while making sure that Lil' Red's is always photo-ready at all markets and special events! Just as importantly, Cheryl Mae, a.k.a. "GaGa," has provided countless hours of childcare during the work week, including several nights and weekends. She's been with us from the start, and we couldn't have done it without her!
